In 1889, Preacher Joseph Koh founded the school. With his like-minded co-workers, he started classes for the local community children. So was born Road End Free School, which later evolved into Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School.

After World War II, the residents came together to help rebuild the devastated school. The school's basketball and ping-pong team excelled and won many medals in the 1960s-1970s under Principal Wu Serk.

To show affiliation to Glory Presbyterian church, Pei Hwa school was renamed Pei Hwa Presbyterian school in 1995.
